Khalid Iqbal Malik, FIE completed his Bachelor of Civil Engineering in the year 1981 from erstwhile Regional Engineering College, Srinagar (now NIT, Srinagar). He has a total experience of 44 years in various capacities both in public and private sector having started his careeras a Site Engineer in J&K Horticulture Produce and Marketing Corporation(JKHPMC) on a world bank aided project for creation of assets in Horticulture Sector to boost the economy of the state. During his tenure in JKHPMC, he supervised execution of assets created under the programmethat included buildings, apple grading complexes, walnut hulling stations, etc. His service period in J&K Government spanned over 36 years, where he conceived, formulated and executed various prestigious irrigation projects (both gravity and lift) and water supply schemes (both urban and rural). Besides, he was associated with formulation and execution of of major drainage and sewerage schemes of the state. During his tenure in Lake Conservation and Management Authority, he was responsible for development of colonies for displaced Dal dwellers having all amenities like roads, drainage and sewerage network. He worked as Director (Technical) in World bank aided Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project/ JKERA and was involved in management implementation of various components of the project , award of contracts of buildings, hospitals, and bridges to Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation, all consultancies of SMC, R&B Department, Industries and Commerce Department including technical and financial evaluation of bids as per QCBS Criteria. He superannuated in January 2019 from JK ERA as Director Technical. Post retirement, from February 2019, he worked as a Director Procurement with M/S Space Engineers Consortium Private Limited and also as Promoter/Director of M/S Encon Asia Consultants Private Limited, an engineering consultancy company with office headquartered in Srinagar. Meanwhile in March 2022, World Bank approved his appointment as Team Leader of M/S Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd., a supervision consultancy company for construction supervision of various sub-projects under the Rs. 1850 Cr. World Bank fundedJhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project where he served till August, 2024. Presently he is leading the team at JNY Consulting Engineers LLP.
